UK: Property adviser Christie & Co has sold the Langham Hotel in Eastbourne, Sussex, to hybrid hospitality platform Novastar Hotel Group.
The Langham Hotel features 77 bedrooms, many of which offer balconies with sea views, alongside a bar, restaurant, and sun terrace.
It has been sold for an undisclosed sum, off a freehold guide price of £3,750,000.
The hotel has been independently owned and operated by Neil and Wendy Kirby for the past 21 years.
The Kirby’s said: “We have decided to retire and to hand over the successful business to a new owner to take to the next level. We are deeply grateful to our dedicated staff, past and present, for their unwavering support throughout the years.”
Novastar Hotel Group – which changed its corporate name in July 2026 from Studio Stays Hotel Group – has bought the Langham Hotel. It marks the group’s first hotel with a second property to follow in the North of England, according to its website.
Ed Bellfield, regional director of hotels at Christie & Co, and who managed the sale process, said: “The sale of the Langham Hotel represented an exceptional opportunity for new owners to continue the hotel’s success. The hotel business benefits from significant repeat patronage and the outstanding reputation of the business is a testament to the continued re-investment and stewardship over recent decades. We wish Neil and Wendy well on their retirement from the hotel business.”
