The Alan opens in Manchester

The Midi room at The Alan

UK: The Alan, a six-storey, 137 room lifestyle hotel in Manchester has opened on Princess Street.

The Grade II-listed building has been designed by Red Deer, with many of the building’s existing materials and features retained and refreshed.

Room sizes range from The Standard to The Master, with the Alan Suite being the largest option. All rooms feature emperor sized beds, 50” Samsung Smart TVs with Google Chromecast, and Bluetooth speakers.

The Alan claims to be one of four UK hotels to offer Google Nest smart concierge in all its rooms.

In the restaurant which is headed by Iain Thomas, an all-day menu will consist of small plates and a selection of main dishes from The Butcher’s Quarter – an artisanal butcher in Manchester’s Northern Quarter. The menu will source from local suppliers and items from Thomas’ own allotment.

Other amenities include a bar area, and later in the year the hotel will introduce Situ – a pop-up events space housed on the lower ground floor.

As part of the opening, The Alan will run the Eat Out to Really Help Out campaign throughout February, offering 50 per cent discount off the total food bill from 5pm. For those who wish to pay the full price, the hotel will donate a portion of the bill to the Greater Manchester Mayor’s Charity to help end rough sleeping.
