US: The Tuxon, located in Tucson city centre, will debut in summer 2020 and has joined the Design Hotels portfolio.
The 112-bed property features design and custom furnishings inspired by American, Mexican and Native American culture.
Bedroom amenities include walk-in showers, high-speed WiFi, 50” UHD TVs, and curated minibars.
The hotel will also benefit from self check-ins through mobile phones, though in-person interaction is also offered.
The Welcome Building will serve as the hotel’s social hub. It features an indoor/outdoor bar, locally-inspired food and beverage, live music, tastings, craft workshops and more.
The Tuxon’s co-creator, Vishal Patel, said: “The Tuxon was born out of our desire to create an authentic, modern Southwest experience in the community we know and love. To be named a Design Hotels destination is both humbling and rewarding, and our team could not be more thrilled to share The Tuxon experience with guests from across the region and around the world alike.”
More than 400 hotels apply to become members of the Design Hotels portfolio annually. Only five per cent are approved.
Design Hotels’ SVP for Americas and business innovation, Markus Schreyer, said: ”The Tuxon is a fantastic addition to our portfolio. As our first member in Arizona, we can’t wait to share this hotel and the incredibly rich destination with our global community. Originals Vishal Patel and Sunny Patel have tapped into exactly the values we hold: a socially-centred hub deeply rooted in its surroundings.”
