Arizona’s first Canopy by Hilton to open in spring

US: Located in Tempe downtown, the 198-key hotel is to be operated by Driftwood Capital’s management company DHM.

The hotel will feature the East Valley’s only full-service rooftop pool and bar on the fourteenth floor, serving tapas-style bites and a curated cocktail menu.

Other facilities at the hotel include 5,000 square feet of meeting and events space, a private fitness centre and wellness space, and a signature restaurant serving American fusion cuisine based on locally-sourced ingredients.

Designed as a “natural extension of its neighbourhood,” Canopy by Hilton Tempe Downtown is adorned with art by Arizona artists. The building’s exterior even features an interpretation of the Arizona State University fight song – a nod to the adjacent university – designed by Allen + Philp.

Key personnel at the hotel include general manager Alan Klein, director for sales and marketing Jennifer Worthley-Gasca, director of food and drink Claudia Soho, and executive chef Ken Arneson.

Klein said: “We look forward to bringing a brand-new hotel, restaurant and rooftop bar to the city of Tempe and the East Valley, filling a niche for an elevated, yet approachable lifestyle destination for locals and business professionals alike. With an innovative design inspired by the neighbourhood surroundings, our hotel guests will be able to discover all that downtown Tempe offers with our complimentary transportation, Canopy bikes and a local welcome gift upon check-in. We are all about delightful extras to help our guests relax and revive.”
