UK: Hospitality real estate company PPHE Hotel Group has opened the UK’s first art’otel property at Battersea Power Station in London today.

Managed by Park Plaza Hotels, art’otel London Battersea Power Station is located within Battersea Roof Gardens in a new building designed by Foster + Partners. Interiors have been overseen by Spanish artist Jaime Hayon and include design features such as tailor made furnishings and personal works of art by Hayon.

“I wanted to create a journey for guests and bring a completely new hotel experience to London, one that blends great comfort with a new vision of contemporary creativity,” said Hayon. “Artistic expression is the soul behind the interior design of the hotel. London Battersea Power Station is set to become a new hub for art and creativity, bringing something truly special to this iconic location, and it’s been a true honour to work on this project.”

The hotel offers 164 rooms, the TOZI Grand Cafe and art gallery, main restaurant JOIA led by Portuguese chef Henrique Sá Pessoa, six meeting rooms, a spa complete with a sauna, steam room and gym, as well as a heated rooftop infinity pool, hot tub and bar.

Jennifer McCabe was appointed general manager of the property in summer last year.

The art’otel London Battersea Power Station is the UK’s first art’otel managed by Park Plaza Hotels. A second art’otel will follow in the city, located in Hoxton, in 2024. Additional properties can be found in Amsterdam, Berlin, and soon in Rome and Zagreb.

PPHE wholly owns the art’otel brand. As the result of a partnership with Radisson Hotel Group, PPHE develops and operates Park Plaza hotels and resorts in Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
