Italy: Claimed to be the oldest hotel in Venice, Baglioni Hotel Luna Venice has reopened with a new fine dining restaurant and spa.
Canova Restaurant by Sadler will be headed by Michelin star chef Claudio Sadler. It will be operated as a seasonal contemporary restaurant with a focus on modern Italian cooking and Venetian produce.
The redesign also features a Venetian-inspired spa which is set to launch in Q2 2022. It will be located on the first floor and includes a Turkish bath, a wet steam bath, a relaxation area and massage rooms.
In partnership with PETA-certified skincare brand, INSIUM, an array of treatments including massages, facials and Venetian rituals will be offered.
Spagnulo & Partners oversaw the entire design process, which also included updates to the hotel’s common areas such as the lobby, reception, entrance and Canova Bar. New marble inlaid flooring and grand chandeliers, made with antique Murano glass, were installed in these spaces.
Located behind the Grand Canal, Baglioni Hotel Luna can be found opposite St Mark’s Square and Doge’s Palace, with guests arriving by gondola to the hotel’s private jetty. It offers 91 rooms and suites in total.
The hotel has a substantial history, reportedly housing the Knights Templar in 1118. By 1574 the property became known as ‘Locanda della Luna’, and during the 18th century the hotel was decorated with frescoes by art students of Giovanni Battista Tiepolo. These works are still featured on the ballroom ceilings today.

Baglioni Hotels & Resorts has announced the upcoming opening of Baglioni Masseria Muzza in Puglia, opening in May, and Casa Baglioni in Milan later this year in Q4.
