UK: Trendy South Bank hotel to open next year
A trendy new South Bank development, Bankside, is set to open on September 2018.
Bankside will be set in a multi-storey glass structure that is part of the One Blackfriars development on London‘s South Bank. It will blend a modern design aesthetic with vibrant interiors. The design is by interior designer and former film set producer Dayna Lee.
Lee said: “We wanted to create a genuine boutique hotel for the modern mindset, with calm rooms and creative public spaces that reflect the vibrant, history-steeped community of SE1. We’ve had fun celebrating the local artistic community including post-kiln pottery drying racks for shelves, kid-leather-covered furnishings conjuring an ‘art school’ experience and punctuating these with lots of luxurious, custom-made features.”
The hotel will feature 161 guest rooms, including seven suites. It will also house a 70-cover restaurant and bar. the restaurant will be informal in style with a focus on seasonal produce. Ding and bar spaces will be open to the public.
Bankside also hopes to be one of London’s most environmentally sustainable hotels. It has set a zero-landfill-waste target and there are plans to build beehives on its rooftop. It will also use on sustainably-sourced wood for furniture and fittings.
