AUS: Daylesford’s Bellinzona Resort has been sold to local accommodation operators, Tony De Marco and Theresa Albioli.
The acquisition has added to De Marco’s and Albioli’s portfolio of 65 owned and managed properties throughout the Daylesford area.
“We are incredibly honoured to have bought such an iconic establishment in our region and look forward to embarking on a multi-million dollar refurbishment. Bellinzona is a welcome addition to our portfolio and will be an exciting destination drawcard for Hepburn shire,” commented the new owners.
The property was marketed through JLL Hotels & Hospitality.
Vice president of JLL Hotels’ Will Connolly said: “Set on a significant site area of 9,739 square meters in the heart of Australia’s spa capital, the property features 43 guest rooms, a large conference and events component, restaurant, cellar door wine bar, indoor heated pool, spa and sauna and guest lounges.
“Offered with vacant possession, Bellinzona appealed to both investors and owner-operators. The incoming owners now have the ability to leverage off the well-established business and increase trading performance, while looking to further capitalise on, or reactivate, several areas to grow their respective market demand segments.”
JLL associate Nick MacFie added: “It was great to achieve this result on behalf of our clients in the midst of unprecedented times, where so much uncertainty exists in every facet of the global economy. We garnered a lot of interest for Bellinzona Resort with multiple bids received, and results such as these will be significant in restoring confidence in the leisure and conference market.”
Built in 1903, Bellinzona has undergone several modifications, renovations and two rebuilds due to a fire.
