UK: Bernard Murphy has left Gleneagles in search of “a new challenge”
Bernard Murphy has left his role as managing director of Gleneagles after three years in the position.
Murphy said he was leaving the role in pursuit of a “new challenge”. He took over from Patrick Elsmie after having served as general manager of the five-red-AA-star, 232-bedroom resort in Auchterarder for seven years. Gleneagles has not yet announced a replacement.
Murphy said: “With the majority of the physical work on site now complete, a strong leadership team in place and brand values communicated across the business, the team are ready to take the business to its next stage. I am proud of the team that has worked with me to achieve this and would like to thank each and every one of them for making this time such a rewarding and enjoyable part of my career and wish them every success in the future both collectively and individually.”
He departs the role having overseen the sale of the business from Diageo to Ennismore in 2015 and a multimillion-pound refurbishment since then.
