US: Waterfront boatel The Shoals, located in Southold on the North Fork of Long Island, has launched for a soft opening.
The hybrid “boatel” features 20 hotel suites and 20 boat slips, making it accessible by both land and sea.
Architect Thomas Juul-Hansen designed the project, and has situated two stories of guest rooms with views of Peconic Bay and marina.
Each room offers private outdoor space with showers featuring Malin + Goetz bath amenities.
Access to the bay is available via the hotel’s private dock and Chris-Craft charter boat, which can also be used as a shuttle to private beaches and nearby restaurants.
The Shoals has partnered with a local family business, Little Ram Oyster, which will be operated from a renovated waterfront building on the property. This venue will launch in May.
Additional public areas include a sundry shop and event space.
