citizenM opens second Seattle hotel

US: Located in Pioneer Square, the 10-storey hotel marks the second in Seattle for citizenM.

The building, which has sat empty for years, was originally home to Seattle’s first saw mill. Now, it occupies a 216-room citizenM hotel, joining Seattle South Lake Union which opens in July 2020.

With he help of 4Culture, citizenM helped an open-call invitation to local artists and selected RYAN! to design the building’s facade. Work by other local artists including Anthony White, Harold Hollingsworth, Natalie Krick and Mary Iverson are showcased throughout the property.

Amsterdam-based firm Concrete, architecture firm Gensler, and general contractor Mortenson, have overseen the project.

Robin Chadha, chief marketing officer at citizenM, said: “We’re thrilled to be part of the growth and cultural renaissance taking place within Seattle’s Pioneer Square neighbourhood with the addition of citizenM Seattle Pioneer Square this spring. With a curated selection of artwork by local Washington-based artists and our proximity to the best the city has to offer in terms of galleries, museums, boutiques, restaurants and bars, we’re excited to be able to provide guests and visitors alike with an unparalleled and culturally robust experience both in and out of the hotel.”

citizenM aims to reach 40 operational hotels worldwide by 2024. Additional properties under development include locations in Miami, Chicago and Austin. The group will have 30 hotels open by the end of 2022.

In March 2022, citizenM launched its latest loyalty program mycitizenM+. With no points to collect, members will be offered a 10 per cent discount off the lowest public rate and additional perks include invites to members-only events, late check-out and room upgrades (subject to availability), and more.
