UK: The Janse Van Rensburg family has sold Hebasca, a hotel in Bude, Cornwall, to a new ownership group.
Christie & Co has completed on the sale of Hebasca, which overlooks Bude Golf Course and is close to Crooklets Beach.
Arranged over three floors, Hebasca has 23 en suite bedrooms, a cocktail bar and a grill restaurant. Externally, landscaped gardens and a terrace provide seating for 60 guests.
Alan Rees, managing director of new owner Ascena Developments Ltd, said: “Ascena Developments Ltd are pleased to announce the purchase of Hebasca Hotel Bude. The team at Ascena Developments are looking forward to working with the local community, suppliers and guests of Hebasca Hotel and continuing with the dedicated team, standards and service the previous owners lovingly implemented. We look forward to welcoming everyone to Hebasca Hotel Bude.”
Wayne Janse Van Resburg said: “After five years of owning, refurbishing and running Hebasca, it was time to hand the hotel over to a new buyer to continue the development of the business and to enable us to concentrate on our other business interest.”
Matthew Smith, director at Christie & Co’s Bristol office, said: “The Janse Van Rensburg family purchased the hotel in 2013 and carried out a major refurbishment later that year, prior to remodelling, repositioning the business and subsequently rebranding to Hebasca. The new owner, Alan Rees, was quick to identify the up-side in a business that has had considerable investment and was able to move at pace to conclude the transaction. We wish Alan and his team all the success with the next phase of the business.”
