US: Aparium Hotel Group plans to convert the city hall in Covington, Kentucky, in to a boutique hotel.
Aparium, which operates theĀ The Iron Horse in Milwaukee, and the Elysian Hotel in Chicago, is working with The Salyers Group , a Covington commercial real estate company, on the project to convert the 102-year old building.
Covington city Manager Larry Klein said: “We’re very excited about this project. We think the impact is going to be huge. It’s going to be great for the small businesses already in the area. It’s going to attract more small businesses as we bring in out of town people and people who live here.”
Covington Mayor Charles Scheper said: “It’s going to bring a new energy to an area of the city that has been neglected for years. But this is going to be truly catalytic in its impact to the city, I believe.”
