UK: Outdoor hospitality brand fforest has opened its first hotel Albion Aberteifi in Cardigan, Wales.

Fforest operates a range of accommodation types including farmhouses, cabins and glamping tents, across three destinations – farm, coast and town. Albion Aberteifi , the group’s first hotel offer, has opened in Cardigan on the River Teifi waterfront in a Grade II-listed former warehouse.

Original parts of the building have been retained in the renovation, such as pencil sketches of ships, signatures, calculations for rope and sail cloth etched in to the walls on the third floor. Albion Aberteifi takes its name from the local legend of the brig, Albion, which sailed 180 passengers from Cardigan to Canada in 1819.

The first phase of the launch offers 12 double bedrooms in the main warehouse of the building, with a further 11 rooms set to open in spring 2023 in the second Granary warehouse. Interiors are inspired by ship cabins and are lined in wood panelling with most of the furnishings repurposed from reclaimed timber.

All of the wool blankets, textiles, socks, knitwear and enamel tableware found in the rooms are available to purchase. The bedding is accredited by British Wool and sourced from Devon Duvets.

Amenities at Albion Aberteifi include The Galley cocktail bar and lounge area with a riverside courtyard, a first floor guest-only lounge and work area, main restaurant Yr Odyn (The Kiln in English) opening in autumn 2022, as well as an outdoor sauna and onsen with a planned opening in December this year.
