UK: Leeu Collection has announced that its Lake District property, Linthwaite House, has reopened today after a year-long refurbishment.
The £10 million-plus renovation has seen the property “transformed into an exceptional contemporary country house hotel”.
Linthwaite House‘s existing 30 bedrooms have been renovated by designer Beverley Boswell, who was also responsible for the interiors of South African sister properties Leeu Estates, Leeu House and Le Quartier Français, all in Franschhoek in the Cape Winelands.
Beverley worked with British furniture makers and fabric designers to create “modern, but comfortable country house interiors that reflect the subtle colours of the Lake District’s stunning natural beauty”.
A new restaurant, Stella, uses locally sourced and organic produce that highlight the best of the Cumbrian region and the season, influenced by international celebrity chef Ritu Dalmia and her passion for Italian cooking.
The Bar & Conservatory has been opened up and extended so that guests can better enjoy the panoramic views of Windermere and the surrounding fells. It will serve an all-day dining menu, a selection of afternoon teas and hand-crafted cocktails in the evenings.
Six newly-created Woodland Suites (two inter-connecting) that will open in Autumn 2018 will feature floor-to-ceiling windows, an open-plan bedroom (with a king-size bed and en-suite bathrooms with a bath and walk-in shower) linking to a large living space.
The hotel’s 14 acres of grounds have been reworked by landscape artist Franchesca Watson.
