India: A heritage-listed Portuguese mansion built in 1879 has been renovated into a high-end boutique hotel.
The property, in Panjim, has been redesigned by Jonathan Fernandes, a New York based architect, and interior designer Isla Van Damme.
The formerly delapidated building is now called Mateus Boutique Hotel, and has nine rooms, each uniquely designed in keeping the buidling’s Portuguese history.
Exterior features include framed arched windows, ornate balconies and stucco mouldings. The inside has high ceilings and flooring which is a combination of the old Portuguese tiles and the original timber flooring.
