Lynford Hall Hotel

UK: Lynford Hall Hotel in Thetford Forest is up for sale at £5.25 million, marketed by Colliers.

The Grade II-listed country house hotel is set in 24 acres of forest. The site was acquired by its current owners in 2005.

It comprises 38 en-suite bedrooms, a 450-cover banqueting suite, events rooms, a restaurant and a bar.

Planning permission has been secured to develop the east wing which became damaged during a fire in the 1920s. Plans include the addition of function suites and a leisure centre. There is also permission to develop 68 lodges in the grounds.

Lynford Hall Hotel was first constructed as a private residence for the Lyne-Stephens family in the mid-19th century. During World War II it was used as an officer convalescent hospital.

It was transformed into a hotel in the 1960s and became a temporary film location for BBC TV shows such as Allo Allo and Dads Army.

Paul Barrasford from Colliers’ hotel agency team said: “We expect to receive interest from a wide range of buyers, whether its hotel investors looking to extend their current brand offering or even developers looking to create a new scheme. The hotel could also be an ideal senior living scheme, educational establishment, company HQ or simply a stunning country residence.”
