US: Located in Wilmington, Delaware, The Quoin has opened in the former Security Trust & Safe Deposit Company Building.
Built in partnership with The Buccini/Pollin Group, Inc (BPG), The Quoin features 24 luxury rooms, a lobby cafe and bar, a ground floor restaurant with courtyard seating, a lower-level cocktail lounge, a rooftop bar and event space, as well as a gym, retail space, and bike share program in partnership with Solé.
The in-house design team at Method Co., Method Studios, led the interiors of the project in collaboration with Philadelphia-based Stokes Architecture.
Creative director, Daniel Olsovsky, said: “Our design inspiration came from a variety of sources, from psychedelic rock to 70’s furniture to shaker craftsmanship. But, I would say our biggest inspiration would probably be the earthy colours and forms found in the nature of this region – which can be found throughout the floral motifs in our fabrics and wallpapers and the soft, organic lines of our furnishings.”
Method Co. will operate all three F&B venues. The main restaurant will serve wood-fired dishes inspired by French and Italian cuisine. During the day, the rooftop will operate as a lounge and workspace before transitioning to a bar in the evening. The subterranean cocktail bar, located in what was called “The Money Room”, will serve classic drinks.
Co-founder and CEO of Method Co., Randall Cook, said: “We hope this project becomes known throughout the region as a place to have on travellers’ shortlist for staycations, excursions as well as to meet what we perceive as unmet demand for a boutique project in the emerging scene in Wilmington. The hotel architecture and design, personalised service and several unique culinary experiences within the same project all add up to a compelling offering.”
Method Co. is a Philadelphia-based hospitality, development, design and branding firm. The group has launched the ROOST Apartment Hotel brand, The Pinch, Whyle, Wm. Mulherin’s Sons, and more, with plan to expand into Detroit and Baltimore.
