Northcote launches Obsession 18

UK: Lineup for top culinary event announced

The lineup of chefs set to take part in Obsession 18 has been announced, promising a varied program of top talent at Northcote’s upcoming culinary festival.

Obsession 18 will see an eighteen-night celebration of gastronomic excellence. Chefs were selected by Northcote’s own Nigel Haworth to provide festival-goers with an international taste of exciting new trends in the culinary world.

Names include Jason Atherton, who will open the festival with a repertoire from the Michelin starred Pollen Street Social, and the controversial Gary Usher.

Mexican cuisine will be represented by offerings from Diego Hernandez, Francisco Ruano, and Jorge Vallejo. Asian flavours will be brought to the table by the likes of Manish Mehrotra, Daniel Calvert and Hiroshi Nakamichi respectively.

Haworth said, “This year we’re celebrating 18 years of Obsession and it just keeps getting more exciting each year. We’re bringing different styles of cooking, different cultures and different flavours to Northcote for both our guests and our kitchen team to experience. Sharing ideas has got to be one of the most important and inspirational things we can do in cookery and we’re in a privileged position that the Obsession 18 chefs are open to sharing their ideas with us. For the next event, I’m especially looking forward to the South American influences, as well as the usual array of UK talent. We have some great young English chefs cooking such as Tommy Banks, Gary Usher, Nelly Robinson and my son, Kirk Haworth who will bring a really youthful, new wave feel to proceedings. I’m excited to meet the chefs of Obsession 18, their teams, and the flavours they bring.”

Obsession is Northcote’s annual homage to the finest food and wine in the world, established since 2001 as one of Europe’s foremost gastronomic events. Obsession 18 is sponsored by Gaggenau, Pure Luxury, Electrolux and sousvide among others.

Northcote is a hotel and restaurant set in a 19th-century house in Langho, Lancashire. The restaurant at Northcote has held a Michelin star since 1996 and runs a fine dining and culinary school.

Bookings for Obsession 2018 can be made from Tuesday 17 October.
