The Tawny expands accommodation for winter launch

The Tawny

UK: Independent hotel The Tawny has revealed plans to launch a collection of private rental properties called The Fledglings this December.

The three new rental properties range in size and provide views over Churnet Valley in Staffordshire.

Kestrel Cottage will open this December with four ensuite bedrooms, a games room, private bar, landscaped gardens, and an outdoor heated swimming pool.

Falcon Farmhouse, sleeping up to eight people, is scheduled to open in spring 2024 and comes with a plunge pool and outdoor social area. A third property will open in spring 2025.

Josh Chadwick, The Tawny’s general manager, said: “This next phase of development marks an exciting step in our sustainability journey. As pioneers of doing things differently, as we have with our deconstructed hotel design, we look forward to embracing this new state-of-the-art technology to enhance our services.”

As part of the expansion plans, The Tawny has outlined several sustainability initiatives. These include the installation of over 100 solar panels and solar batteries later this year, alongside 14 EV chargers.

The investment will allow the hotel to generate and use renewable energy to power a large proportion of the day-to-day operations. It is expected to reduce the site’s carbon emissions by 20 tonnes.
