Japan: The mesm Tokyo, Autograph Collection, designed by Wilson Associates, will open its doors next spring.
Spanning more than 225,000 square feet as part of the new Takeshiba Waterfront Development Project in the city’s central business district, the mesm Tokyo, Autograph Collection will “fuse traditional details with modern innovation through local materials and a curated art program”.
Highlightswill include accent lighting, copper finishes, and a reinterpretation of a traditional saltwater pond typical of the nearby Hama-rikyu Gardens.
A communal table will anchor the double-height lobby, while “a smoky gray marble pathway leads interiors adorned with soft forms and tactile textures that juxtapose the site’s strong vernacular”. The hotel features 265 guest rooms, some with collapsible closet cubicles and spacious living rooms, a ballroom and banquet space.
