Wales: Cardiff Council has approved the Welsh Rugby Union’s plans to convert a former post office and court building into a luxury hotel.
Operated by Celtic Collection, the upcoming Westgate hotel is a joint venture between the Welsh Rugby Union and property developer Rightacres.
Located near the Principality Stadium, the 175-room refurbished building is to feature “one of the largest function rooms” in the city, accommodating 350 guests.
The hotel will also include a bar, a 120-cover restaurant, and a spa with a swimming pool.
Funded by Legal & General, permission has been granted to construct a seven-storey extension which forms part of an ongoing investment into the regeneration of Central Square.
A launch date of December 2020 has been slated.
