UK: Scottish hotel owner-operator Wisteria & Heather Ltd has acquired The Bellachroy, the Isle of Mull’s oldest inn, with plans for a sustainable refurbishment.
The property on the Scottish island will be operated under the leadership of Thomas and Matthew Broom-Hughes.
The company intends to transform the property into an eco-friendly retreat that honours the island’s heritage while embracing sustainability and locally sourced food. Plans involve a full refurbishment of the hotel, restaurant, and pub – all designed to showcase the best of Mull’s natural beauty and local produce.
The Bellachroy will remain open as usual from the start of the 2025 season in April, with works set to begin in the coming months.
Thomas Broom-Hughes said: “Our love for Mull runs deep, and we are thrilled to be stewards of such an iconic place. Our vision is to create a welcoming space where guests can experience the true essence of the island through its food, landscape, and history while prioritising sustainability at every turn.”
Matthew Broom-Hughes said: “We want The Bellachroy to be more than just a place to stay, we want to welcome everyone to our home, where people connect with the land, the community, and the history of Mull.
“Sustainability and provenance are at the heart of everything we do, and we can’t wait to bring this vision to life,” he added.
