Spain: IHG Hotels & Resorts will open its first Kimpton hotel in Madrid, with the luxury lifestyle property expected to welcome guests in mid-2030.
The hotel will be built in the Barrio Salamanca district and will be developed within a heritage building, which will house the hotel’s 106 rooms. The property will be approximately a 15 minute drive from Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas Airport and near sights such as Puerta de Alcalá and the National Library.
The hotel will have a spa, an indoor swimming pool, a restaurant on the ground floor and a rooftop restaurant with views of the Madrid skyline.
Willemijn Geels, vice president of development for Europe at IHG Hotels & Resorts, said: “Spain is a cornerstone of our European growth strategy, offering significant scale potential and strong fundamentals, and we’re delighted to partner with El Corte Inglés on this exciting new hotel.”
The Madrid property will become Kimpton‘s fourth hotel destination in Spain, joining Barcelona, Mallorca and Marbella.
IHG currently operates 66 hotels across Spain, with a further 16 properties in development. The company has 68 luxury and lifestyle hotels in development across Europe.
With the recent launch of Kimpton KAFD Riyadh and 2026 openings in Dubai and Doha planned, the Madrid opening comes at a strategic moment for the brand.
