Italy: Palazzo Sasso, a luxury hotel on Italy’s Amalfi Coast has ben renamed Palazzo Avino.

The hotel, which opened its doors in 1997, was founded by the late Giuseppe Avino, and from January 2013 it will be renamed after him.

The decision was made by Giuseppe’s daughter Mariella Avino, who now runs the hotel, in the town of Ravello.

“The idea of having the Avino name on the hotel is actually very special for me and my sisters. We have no men in the family besides my father, so our name, Avino, will eventually disappear. But with Palazzo Avino, the name will always remain. My grandfather is no longer with us, but now his name is here forever. I know this would have made him very happy.”

The hotel has 32 rooms, 11 suites, a modern fitness facility, wellness spa, and heated outdoor pool. Its restaurant, Rossellinis, has two Michelin stars.

As well as the renaming, the owners plan to add a new outdoor bar, along and renovate some of the property’s communal areas.
