US: The Villa By Barton G, a boutique hotel and event venue at the former Versace mansion in Miami Beach, Florida, has closed its doors.
The South Florida Business Journal reported that the venue’s restaurant owner Barton Weiss, and his company “had sued the mansion’s owner, Peter Loftin, to relocate the business”.
A legal battle over the former Versace mansion, has been ongoing for two years and “has become more complicated by the day”, according to the report. The property has been caught up in the bankruptcy of “Ponzi schemer” Scott Rothstein’s defunct law firm.
The mansion is currently for sale, with a list price of $75 million, down from an original $125 million. Loftin said last week he has no plans to find another tenant until a sale happens.
