US: Argentine hotel management company Fen Hoteles has been selected to mange the Hotel Bossert in Brooklyn Heights, New York.

The 14-storey building, which was bought three years ago for $81 million by David Bistricer of Clipper Equity and the Chetrit Group, is a local landmark and has been described as the Waldorf Astoria of Brooklyn.

Carlo Scissura, the president of the Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce, said: “It still is amazing that if you think 15 or 16 years ago, there was one hotel in Brooklyn, and that was the Marriott and they were the trailblazers. The Bossert, with its rich history and where it’s located, will be a very exciting opportunity for Brooklyn Heights and Brooklyn. We’re thrilled about it.”

Fën is mainly known for its properties in Latin and South America, but is expanding in the US. It recently opened the Dazzler Brooklyn, less than a mile away from Hotel Bossert.

Sean Hennessey, the chief executive officer of independent hotel consultancy Lodging Advisors, said: “The long-term trend is that Brooklyn is getting stronger. The outlook is for Brooklyn to continue to improve as a hotel market both in terms of its occupancy and room rates relative to Manhattan.”
