Portugal: The debut property from AlmaLusa Hotels is set to open in Lisbon on 17th March.

The 28-room boutique hotel is set in a historic building in the heart of the city.

Located on a site where Lisbon’s royal palace once stood, the AlmaLusa Baixa/Chiado occupies a renovated 18th-century building where weapons and cannons destined for Portuguese explorers’ ships were constructed and stored.

The 28 rooms, including 12 suites, are all individually designed. The hotel restaurant “celebrates regional cuisine featuring fresh, seasonal ingredients form the Mediterranean larder”. There is also an al fresco dining area.

AlmaLusa Hotels is described as “an urban concept with properties located in historic buildings in the city centre. Maintaining the original architecture and introducing atmospheres and interior design ‘Retro-Cool’ style in a modern and functional approach with attention to efficiency and sustainability.”
