US: After a year of construction the Hotel Warner in West Chester, Pennsylvania is ready to open its doors.
The 77-room property will be the first new hotel to operate in the borough for decades. It has been built by developers The McFadden Group and will be managed by Centerstone franchise.
“We decided upon a Centerstone franchise because it allowed the flexibility to build a boutique hotel that reflected the flavor and culture of the local community,” said Brian McFadden, president of the McFadden Group. “The large Marriotts and Hiltons are excellent, but we wanted to develop something unique, something with a West Chester personality. With Centerstone, we have the strong backing of a national affiliation with local ownership, management, and decision-making.”
After initial plans were passed, McFadden reduced the number of rooms and dropped the height to an average of 55 feet. “We just felt it blended in better. We designed it to blend in with the existing stores. People like the old ornate historical stuff but they want modern amenities,” he said.
The hotel is built on the site of the former Warner Theater, which was built in 1930, and demolished in 1985. It will create 50 to 60 jobs for the local community.
The hotel has nine geothermal units under its garage, which will heat and cool the lobby, hallways and common areas; and the roof is covered in solar panels. “We will be 50 to 60 percent off the grid in terms of energy self-sufficiency,” McFadden said.
“We’re thrilled to have this premier property in the Centerstone system,” said Centerstone CEO Steve Belmonte. “Its historic background and picturesque location makes it a truly special property and we could not be happier.”
