Canada: Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants has announced plans for a four-star Kimpton hotel in the Bloor-Yorkville neighbourhood in Toronto.

Scheduled to open in mid-2018, the property will be owned and developed by InnVest Hotels LP, one of the largest hotel owners in Canada. It will be a full conversion of the current Holiday Inn Toronto Bloor Yorkville. The renovated 13-storey property will feature 189 guest rooms including 18 suites, 2,000 square feet of ground level meeting space and a Bloor Street-facing leased restaurant and bar. Additional amenities will include a fitness centre, complimentary PUBLIC bikes, yoga mats in every room, morning coffee and tea, and a nightly social hour.

Mike DeFrino, Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants‘ CEO, said: “We’re looking forward to entering the Canadian market and introducing our unique heartfelt service to Toronto. We’re thrilled to be working with InnVest to open the first boutique hotel that speaks to the city’s dynamic cultural scene.”

Andrew Higgs, Vice President of Asset Management for InnVest Hotels, said: “We see Kimpton as the perfect partner for our new four-star boutique hotel. Kimpton’s known as a leader in adaptive reuse and a company with a proven track record of inclusivity and diversity. Both of these will make the new Kimpton Bloor-Yorkville a successful and positively contributing member of the neighborhood, setting the property up for success from the start.”
