US: Sage Hotel Management, part of Sage Hospitality Group, has reorganised its portfolio into three operating verticals and has appointed vice presidents for each department.

Sage Hotel Management properties will now be organised into three verticals:

• The Upscale Collection (branded, focused-serviced hotels)

• The Premier Collection (luxury, soft-branded and full-service hotels)

• The Independent Collection (independent hotels)

Alongside this, four vice presidents have been appointed to oversee each vertical. These include:

Jan Lucas – vice president, The Upscale Collection

Starting his career with Marriott’s Residence Inn division, Lucas has been with Sage for the past 18 years and has experience leading upscale, focused-service hotels.

Chris Lorino – vice president, The Premier Collection (East)

Lorino joined Sage in 2018 following almost two decades with Starwood and over three years with Provenance Hotels.

Dani Stern – vice president, The Premier Collection (West)

Stern has been with Sage for nearly four years, and has previous experience at Two Roads Hospitality and Destination Hotels & Resorts.

Kim Corrigan – vice president, The Independent Collection

Having served as general manager of Sage hotels including The Curtis, The Blackstone and Halycon, Corrigan comes to the role with 12 years experience working with Sage.

“Even before the pandemic, we were challenging our way of thinking and exploring opportunities to evolve our organisation to not only better support our partners, but to position Sage Hotel Management to be the management company of choice,” said Daniel del Olmo, president and COO of Sage Hotel Management. “The challenges we’ve faced in the last year have only increased our commitment to think and act differently about the way we will do business going forward. For us, ‘owning the upswing’ means ensuring our organisation is structured in the way that consistently exceeds our partners’ expectations, best supports the needs of our diverse portfolio of hotels and allows us to fully capitalise on new hotel management opportunities.”

To further expand the team, Sage Hotel Management has also introduced a new business growth team responsible for sourcing, evaluating and pursuing all relevant new management opportunities.

In 2020, John Arnett transitioned to senior vice president of growth for the organisation after serving five years as SVP of operations, and in February 2021 Sage welcomed Dexter Tom as vice president of growth. Tom has more than 20 years of experience with Marriott underwriting or negotiating more than 100 management and franchise contracts. An additional vice president of growth is expected to be announced shortly.

Within the last year, Sage has also made a multi-million investment in technology support systems, including:

• The launch of Sage Forward – an innovation platform housing initiatives aimed at housing initiatives for building guest and associate trust

• Implementation of UltiPro – a human capital management system of record for Sage to update its talent management capabilities

• Transitioning to a new accounting and business intelligence platform powered by M3 – for Sage to utilise reporting and business analytics

• Implementing Craftable in Sage’s restaurants and bars, and MEWS as the independent property management system solution

Sage Hospitality Group is a Denver-based hospitality management, investment and development company comprised of four companies: Sage Hotel Management,  Sage Restaurant Concepts, Sage Investments and Sage Studio.
