UK: Waldorf Astoria is to open a property located within a London landmark.
Waldorf Astoria has announced plans to open a hotel in Admiralty Arch, the historic monument on The Mall in central London.
Prime Investors Capital will spend a projected £100m to renovate the property, transforming it into a luxury hotel.
The investment group said it had reached an agreement with Hilton, which owns the Waldorf Astoria brand, to run the hotel when it debuts in 2022.
The Admiralty Arch was finished in 1912. It was most recently used by the Cabinet Office. It was sold off in the last government’s effort to sell off parts of its property portfolio.
The property will feature 96 rooms and suites, three restaurants and a rooftop bar.
Spanish investor Rafael Serrano of Prime Investors Capita said: “This partnership brings our iconic luxury brand to London’s finest address,” said Christopher Nassetta, chief executive of Hilton. We will ensure that this London landmark enters the next chapter of its life in safe hands and maintains its iconic standing in the capital.”
