UK: The 18-key Burleigh Court Hotel in Stroud, Gloucestershire, has been bought by a group of first-time hotel owners.
The property was put on the market in September 2018 with an asking price of £1.6m for the freehold.
It has been acquired by first-time owners, James and Corinna Rae, and Simon Austin, the former manager at the Royal Crescent Hotel in Bath, who will manage the property as part of a new company, Moonflight Ltd.
Austin said: “A unique merge of modern and traditional styles will be at the heart of Burleigh Court and the spirit of generosity will infuse everything we do and offer at the hotel. The restaurant menu will be seasonal on regional and sustainably sourced products with focus on quality and flavours. Based on the simple motto ‘eat well, sleep well, feel well, we promise a relaxed and accessible countryside experience with captivating warmth and a splash of luxury managed by a highly skilled team.”
The Raes added: “With its warm country house charm, Burleigh feels wonderfully set back from the busyness of everyday life. Coming from London, this is an asset we cherish and retain while bringing in a fresh approach during the re-brand and a gradual make-over. We do not want to re-invent Burleigh Court but build on the good that is already here. We are excited to have Simon Austin on board and his many years of hospitality knowledge acquired in the luxury boutique hotel market.”
