Scottish entrepreneur Steven McLeod has opened his latest outlet, the five-star Cairn Lodge and Hotel in Auchterarder, which he has spent £3 million on acquiring and renovating.
The former Victorian hunting lodge near Gleneagles has been turned into a five-star 10-bedroom boutique hotel with a separate five-bedroom lodge house, creating around 40 jobs in the local area.
McLeod told The Falkirk Herald: “My hobby is my business and I want to be involved at every level. I work seven days a week and haven’t had a holiday in two and a half years, but I’ve still got the same enthusiasm I had when I purchased my first hotel, Airth Castle.”
His Aurora Collection includes Hotel Colessio – the former Royal Infirmary building in Stirling, Solsgirth House near Dollar, The Kenmore Hotel and Luxury Lodges close to the River Tay and Glenbervie House and Coach House at Larbert.
McLeod’s ambition is to see the Aurora portfolio grow to 24 hotels.
