Worldwide: Luxury group Red Carnation Hotels has achieved EarthCheck Silver certification across its global portfolio, spanning the UK, Ireland, Europe and South Africa.
According to the group, Red Carnation achieved Silver status after 14 months. Silver certification is awarded once all performance requirements have been met, following an independent external on-site audit across 10 key performance areas.
Each hotel within the portfolio appointed dedicated data managers and coordinators to lead the certification process locally and to monitor progress.
Some key initiatives include:
- The Oyster Box, South Africa – reduced water consumption by 58 per cent, and reduced emissions intensity by almost the same amount.
- The Lodge at Ashford Castle, Ireland – reduced water consumption by 48 per cent.
- The Rubens at the Palace, and Hotel 41, London – achieved the lowest emissions intensity in the portfolio at 3.29 kg/GN.
- Eight hotels reported zero landfill waste.
- Partnerships with The Clink Restaurant at HMP Brixton, youth empowerment programs in Cape Town, environmental charity Hometree, and food waste platform Winnow.
It builds on the team’s Bronze certification, awarded in 2025.
