Denmark: A second hotel in Copenhagen is set to open in 2024, with three new dining concepts to debut in the first hotel in 2021.
The second, 128-room 25hours Hotel Paper Island is situated in the city centre on the island of Christiansholm, which is also known as Paper Island from the rolls of paper that were stored there for Danish news print.
The Opera House and theatre are located nearby, and a new waterfront culture centre is also planned for the area.
“The only thing better than one hotel opening in a new city is two openings!” said Florian Kollenz, Chief Development Officer at 25hours. “We’re very proud to be working on the new hotel project with CØ P/S, a consortium consisting of pension fund Danica and project developers Nordkranen and Union Kul”.
Danish architects, COBE, will spearhead the project, and collaborate with Stylt Trampoli from Gothenburg for the interior design. 25hours Hotel Das Tour in Düsseldorf, an award-winning property, was also designed by the same team.
Managing director, Michael End, said: “At 25hours, food and drink should and must play a central role. We’ll be working on Paper Island with both brand new and proven partners. As well as a restaurant and cafe on the ground floor, a rooftop bar is also planned. At the moment, my favourite part is the two house boats in front of the hotel for which we are currently evaluating various concepts, including a sauna and bar”.
At the 243-room 25hours Hotel Copenhagen, the announcement of three new dining venues include:
• The Duse Café – named after the Italian stage actress, Eleonora Giulia Amalia Duse, this cafe will be led by pastry chef Melissa Forti. Signature style pastries, cakes and tarts will be made from select organic products.
• NENI restaurant – marking the seventh NENI project from the Molcho family, the restaurant’s menu takes inspiration from Israel, Persia, Russia, Arabic, French, German, Chinese, Indian, and Thai cultures – what Haya Molcho, chef and restaurateur, calls “nomadic cuisine”.
• The Boilerman Bar – as the fourth Boileroom from Jörg Meyer, the venue’s name alludes to the history of highballs – a signal used in the US railway system to alert train drivers to speed up.
These concepts will debut alongside the hotel’s opening in 2021.
