UK: Manor house hotel Dumbleton Hall, located in the North Cotswolds, has reopened following a two-year restoration under new ownership.

The newly refurbished hotel, housed in a Grade II-listed building, is located near Stratford-upon-Avon and Cheltenham. It sits within a 16-acre estate.

Each of the hotel’s 34 bedrooms and suites has been individually designed. Common spaces include the Drawing Room, Library Bar, and Pheasant Lounge, which all contain wood-burning fireplaces.

Dining at Dumbleton Hall is overseen by executive chef Dean Westcar. The hotel’s main restaurant, Cedar 1905, provides breakfast, lunch, and dinner, with options such as Cacklebean Eggs, fresh fish, and estate-sourced game. Traditional afternoon tea is also served in the Drawing Room, with The Orangerie set to open in August.

The property is decorated with prints honouring William Morris, as well as animal prints, palm plants, and chinoiserie pieces.

“Dumbleton Hall has been carefully restored to embody the charm of quintessential English elegance,” said Paul Vezolles, proprietor. “Guests are invited to step back into the golden age of the manor house and become part of its unfolding story. We hope they feel inspired by the hall’s rich heritage while enjoying exceptional Cotswolds cuisine and the beauty of the surrounding countryside.”

Built in 1830, Dumbleton Hall has been visited by the likes of Elizabeth Gaskell, Charles Darwin, Charles Dickens, the Mitford sisters, John Betjeman, and Patrick Leigh Fermor. During the Second World War, it housed the Women’s Land Army before later becoming a hotel.
