UK: The Stratford Hotel, part of the Manhattan Loft Gardens tower at London’s Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, will open in sporing 2019.
The tower is being developed by Harry Handelsman’s Manhattan Loft Corporation. Handelsman also restored the St Pancras Hotel and Chiltern Firehouse.
The hotel is inspired by the “timeless glamour” and “long-term residents of 1950’s New York’s legendary hotels”. It will occupy six stories of the 42-storey building, which has been designed by Skidmore, Owings & Merrill (SOM). Its 145 bedrooms and suites have been designed by SPACE Copenhagen.
Guests can take advantage of the building’s two restaurants. Allegra will open under the former head chef at Chiltern Firehouse, Patrick Powell and The Stratford Brasserie will be headed by Ben Harrington, formerly of Soho House Group.
The venue will offer live music events, pop-up house parties and fitness events taking place throughout the building. The Stratford will also feature a hospitality Academy that will focus on recruiting locals, and a cultural spread of personalities and skill sets.
Manhattan Loft Corporation CEO Harry Handelsman says: “Picture the perfect 21st century hotel, what do you see? Impeccable facilities, immaculate service and a great location are all vital. But it needs that unique pulse those famous Manhattan hotels had, like the Carlyle, the Chelsea. A club, meeting place, hotel and home that never treats you like you’re ordinary.”
