Kimpton Rouge to undergo major renovation and rebrand

US: The Kimpton Rouge, one of the brand’s major US properties, is set to undergo a renovation in fall of 2020.

Kemmons Wilson Companies, owners of the brand, announced that the Dupont Circle staple would be getting a new name alongside its new look.

The company has committed to spend around $20 million to refurbishing the hotel’s rooms, debuting a new restaurant, and adding patio and rooftop bar areas to the property. KWC alongside Valor Hospitality Partners, partial owner and property manager of the hotel, have partnered with former partner Mason Studio, Washington D.C. architecture firm BBGM, and hospitality contractor first finish in order to complete the redesign.

The hotel was sold late last year to KWC after the original owners, Pebblebrook Hotel Trust, had committed to refocus their efforts on other properties. The hotel’s unique approach to boutique hospitality and strong views of D.C sights made it a hub for politicos, artists and tourists over the past 18 years.

“Dupont Circle is one of the most vibrant neighbourhoods in Washington, D.C.,” said general manager Raeshawna Scott in a press release, “and the changes we are making to the property will reflect both the Kimpton brand and the lively area.”

Kimpton has committed to expansion recently, with a 2020 opening in Barcelona planned, as well as commitment to their “stay human project,” designed to connect hotel guests to each other.
