UK: Mandarin Oriental is set to open a new property in central London
Mandarin Oriental has announced that it will launch The Mandarin Oriental Mayfair in 2021.
The property, located on Hanover Square, will be managed by the Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group. It will be a sister hotel to the 189-bedroom Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park, London, which is currently nearing the completion of an extensive renovation.
The property will be designed by architects Rogers Stirk Harbour + Partners and developed by Clivedale London, which is the UK branch of the Indian-based finance and real estate company Indiabulls Group.
The Mandarin Oriental Mayfair will feature a fine-dining restaurant, lobby lounge, bar, swimming pool, fitness centre, spa and private roof terrace with a second bar overlooking Mayfair. The Residences at the hotel will be located on the upper floors of the building, will be serviced by the hotel.
James Riley, group chief executive of Mandarin Oriental, said: “Operating two complementary hotels in a single destination is something that the group has already done successfully in Hong Kong.” He is “delighted” that the company is to launch a second property in London.
Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group, a member of the Jardine Matheson Group, currently operates 31 hotels and eight residences in 21 countries. It has operated its original London hotel since 1996, when it bought the Hyde Park hotel from Forte.
