Australia: After three years of lengthy construction, the Porter House Hotel in downtown Sydney is set to open.
The property, run by Sofitel’s MGallery Brand, is another in the high luxury’s plans for expansion.
Set in a 36 storey tower, the hotel will be part of a full mixed-use development. The first nine floors will fit 121 hotel rooms, while levels 10-34 will suit 131 luxury apartments.
It intends to integrate the 1870 building from which it gets its name, keeping original design elements as well as having the new development take its aesthetic cues. Rich leathers, polished metal accents and timber all are there to pay homage to the vintage look.
Amenities will include pool, fitness facilities, a spacious lobby, Bar and restaurant venues, all of which will feature changing works by local artists.
Simon McGrath, chief operating officer for AccorHotels Pacific said to TravelDailyMedia: “We are thrilled to develop a new strategic partnership with Shanghai United on this landmark development for Sydney’s CBD. The hotel sector here is the strongest in Australia with consistent occupancy levels in the mid-high 80 per-cent range and average rates growing sharply.”
The new property will be the 11th MGallery hotel across the Australia/New Zealand region. It will open either in late 2020 or early 2021.
