US: The 57-room boutique hotel, scheduled to open in Newport in June 2020, has appointed Jonathan Andrew Ross as managing director.

With 20 years of experience in luxury hospitality, Ross will be responsible for the strategic direction of the new hotel through all pre-opening stages including development, hiring, training, and sales and marketing.

Ross most recently served as regional director of sales and marketing, New England for Auberge Resorts Collection. Under his wing were four independent luxury hotels – White Barn Inn (Kennebunk, Maine); The Vanderbilt (Newport, Rhode Island); Mayflower Inn & Spa (Washington, Connecticut); and Grace Cafayate (Cafayate, Argentina).

Jeff Farrar, partner of The Brenton Hotel, LLC said: “Andy has a deep understanding of the luxury hospitality market in New England. His expertise, vision, and leadership will be instrumental in opening the hotel, as well as guiding the property through the next phase of success.”

The Brenton Hotel is owned by local investment group, The Brenton Hotel, LLC. It is to be operated by White Horse Hospitality.

The hotel will feature a mix of rooms and suites with a “nautical-chic” theme throughout. Its bar will serve craft cocktails and small plates, and the rooftop garden provides views over Newport harbour. A private boat is also available for sunset cruises.

As a member of the Preferred Hotels & Resorts Lifestyle Collection, guests of the Brenton Hotel are eligible to enrol in the I Prefer hotel rewards program that is in place across 700 participating Preferred Hotels & Resorts locations worldwide.
