Portugal: Kurt Gillig has been promoted to GM of Vila Vita Parc, a five-star hotel, resort and spa near Porches, on the Algarve.
He moves up from his previous position of hotel director.
Austrian born Gillig joined the hotel as executive chef in 2000, and progressed to various positions including resident manager in charge of the rooms division and VIP services. He was also instrumental in laying the groundwork for the award of the Ocean restaurant’s first Michelin star in 2009, and its second star in 2011 under Chef Hans Neuner.
Vila Vita Parc is set within 54 acres of subtropical gardens. It has 180 rooms, suites and villas across several buildings.
