UK: The five-star hotel Great Scotland Yard, part of the Unbound Collection by Hyatt, has appointed Mario Flanagan as general manager.
Flanagan joins Great Scotland Yard from Andaz London, Liverpool Street, where he held the role of general manager from March 2019.
He has spent many years working with Hyatt, having begun his career with the company in 2007 when he joined Hyatt Regency in Johannesburg as director of rooms. The following year he was promoted to executive assistant manager before moving to the UK as hotel manager of Hyatt Regency London, The Churchill.
Additional experience includes general manager of Hyatt Regency Birmingham where Flanagan oversaw a £6 million refurbishment of the hotel.

Great Scotland Yard Hotel offers 151 rooms and suites, restaurant Ekstedt at the Yard headed up by Michelin-starred chef Niklas Ekstedt, cocktail bar The 40 Elephants, a whisky bar Síbín, afternoon tea lounge The Parlour, a five- storey detached private residence Great Scotland Yard Townhouse, and more.
Miriam Varoli has succeeded Flanagan as general manager of Andaz London, Liverpool Street.
