Worldwide: Owner-operator Maybourne Hotel Group has named Roland Fasel as the group’s chief operating officer, effective April 2023.

Fasel brings almost 30 years of global experience with luxury hotel groups to his role with Maybourne Hotel Group. He joins from the Aman Collection, where Fasel held the same title of chief operating officer for the past six years.

Other notable positions include eight years with The Dorchester Collection, serving as general manager of The Dorchester as well as regional director for the group. 

In his new role, Fasel will be responsible for the commercial success of the current Maybourne portfolio and will also lead the team’s international expansion.

The completion of our ground-breaking building project at Claridge’s, ensuring its ready to face the next 200 years of its life, and the recent announcement of our fourth hotel in the capital, The Emory, highlights our desire to develop and evolve our ultra-luxury brand. Roland’s particular expertise in this field will help accelerate our plans.”

The Emory is scheduled to open in winter this year, marking Maybourne’s sixth hotel in the portfolio. It is set to feature 60 suites over nine floors, a restaurant led by chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten, and a subterranean wellness space with a 72-foot pool.
