San Diego Carté Hotel brings aboard new food and beverage director

US: The Carté Hotel, part of the Hilton Curio Collection has hired Timothy Wagner as its director of food and beverage.

This is the next acquisition by the California hotel after they expanded their sales team in October.

Wagner comes after a career spanning 23 years in hospitality team leadership, with 15 years of experience at Coastal Pacific Wine and Spirits of America. There he held a variety of managerial roles and oversaw 400 managers across 28 states, seeing multi-million-dollar growth.

He has both culinary and business education, from the American Culinary Federation and Milwaukee Area technical college respectively, with sommelier certification as well.

Wagner said of his new role: “One of the most rewarding parts of working in a hotel is being able to take culinary initiatives from concept to reality and receiving feedback from guests. I am looking forward to delivering unique, quality food and beverage experiences for Carté Hotel guests and am confident my skillset will aid in the success of all food and beverage venues on property.”

The Carté hotel is a new installation in San Diego’s vibrant Little Italy neighbourhood. The hotel’s design takes advantage of that heritage as well as San Diego’s natural beachfront beauty.

The hotel’s amenities include fitness center, bar facilities, and most notably, restaurant and wine tasting facilities. Watercolors and Fonte de Vino both offer intimate, contemporary designs, inspired both by italian cuisines and the wines produced nearby in Southern California.

Henri Bimele, Carté hotel manager said of the addition: “Timothy is dedicated to creating engaging wine and spirits programs and developing a strong food and beverage team that delivers on guest satisfaction. His passion for the property, combined with strong leadership and restaurant experience, will make him an essential asset as we continue to offer exceptional dining experiences to Carté Hotel guests.”
