HK: Swire Hotels, which manages brands The House Collective and EAST, has progressed Brian Williams, Toby Smith and Dean Winter into new roles.
Winter will take the position of managing director, succeeding Smith who is now deputy chairman.
Winter has over 25 years of experience as a hotelier and restaurateur across London, Hong Kong and Singapore. He said: “I am honoured to be following in the footsteps of Brian and Toby, who have helped Swire Hotels to grow immeasurably over the past decade. In many ways, our culture feels very much like a start-up; we still have a long way to go, but we have built an incredible team of hoteliers and restauranteurs, and I am very excited about the future of the brand.”
Smith originally joined the Swire group a management trainee in 1991. As deputy chairman, he will lead the group’s growth strategy for both its own developments as well as its managed agreements with third party owners.
Williams, formerly deputy chairman, will take up the role of senior advisor to Swire Hotels from his new base in the UK. He will continue to support the development plans of the group and will act as a brand ambassador to raise the profile of EAST and The House Collective.
Swire Hotels chairman, Guy Bradley, said: “I would like to thank Brian for the immeasurable contribution he has made to the growth and success of Swire Hotels during his time in Hong Kong.”
Swire Hotels has hotels in Hong Kong, mainland China and the USA.
The House Collective is a group of houses each inspired by their individual locations. The Opposite House in Beijing was the first to open in 2008, followed by The Upper House in Hong Kong, The Temple House in Chengdu, and The Middle House in Shanghai.
