Panama: The first phase of Amble Resorts’ Isla Palenque resort in Panama, which features a 16-room boutique hotel and a luxury spa, will open in early 2013.

Isla Palenque is a tropical island in the Gulf of Chiriqui, on Panama’s Pacific coast.

The 16 rooms will consist of six estate rooms – built between trees to blur the line between built space and the natural surroundings, and ten tented suites, aimed at giving “a luxury camping experience in the wild jungle”.

The spa, on Playa Palenque beach, will use locally sourced mineral clays, aromatic oils, and fresh botanicals.

Other facilities include an infinity pool, gourmet beach dinners, cooking and cultural classes, hiking trails in the jungle, and a range of restaurants.

The resort is the first phase of a 10-year development process which will eventually feature 220 homes on more than 400 acres, as well as the hotel component.
