UK: The Brudenell Hotel in Aldeburgh, Suffolk, has appointed Garth Wray as general manager and James Barber as head chef.
Wray’s career include roles at The Langham in London, the Wentworth Club, in Surrey, The Bath Spa Hotel and more recently as general manager of Milsoms Kesgrave Hall. He is a graduate of the Savoy Educational Trust and Worshipful Company of Innholders scholarship, which he experienced at Cranfield School of Management.
Barber was a national finalist in both the Gordon Ramsay and Roux Brothers scholarships. He has held head chef roles with John Burton Race at the Michelin-starred New Angel in Dartmouth and for Mitch Tonks, helping him launch his Rockfish establishment in Dartmouth.
The Brudenell is owned by TA Hotel Collection Ltd, a group of five Suffolk properties, including the Swan Hotel in Lavenham and the Crown at Woodbridge.
On September 30th the group is taking part in a “Battle of the chefs” in which four of Aldeburgh’s best chefs – including Barber – go head to head as part of the town’s celebrated Food & Drink Festival. Details can be found on The Brudenell’s website.
