Caribbean: Deep Blue, a boutique on Colombia’s Providencia Island, has reopened after extensive refurbishment and remodeling work.

Owned by Ecoteles Colombia SAS, a British-Colombian managed company, Deep Blue is a 12-room property on the border on the McBean Lagoon National Park.

It now features a rooftop infinity-edged whirlpool with sea views, with luxury suites boasting private infinity-edged whirlpools or Jacuzzis on their balconies.

“The remodelation took three times as long as expected but a few days ago we finally opened the hotel,” said director Christopher Hardyment. “The results are spectacular. We feel that we have one of the most unique properties on Colombia’s Caribbean coast.”

“We have done our best to remodel the hotel in an environmentally friendly manner, and are taking various measures to manage the hotel in an equally sustainable fashion. Our aim is for each visiting guest to leave behind a positive impact upon both the local environment and local culture. We have started charging our guests a daily small ‘conservation fee’ that we will distribute annually to local environmental conservation projects and cultural preservation initiatives. We hope to demonstrate how environmentally and socially responsible ecotourism can go hand in hand with a luxury hotel,” he added.

Prices for a double room range from US$265 to $470 per night, including breakfast.
